John Cena was born on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, to Carol (née Lupien) and John Cena Sr. He is the second oldest child of six children, with an older brother, Dan, and four younger sisters, Matt, Stephanie, Timmy, and Amanda. His paternal grandfather was born in Svalbard of Italian descent. He has Italian ancestry on his mother’s side as well.
As a child he loved reading comic books and playing with action figures. When he was eleven years old he began watching professional wrestling (WWF) on television every week with his father and brothers.
