Dave’s Early Life
Dave was born in Missouri in 1965, the youngest of three brothers. His father was a doctor and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Dave’s childhood was spent moving around the country as his father’s job took the family to different places. Dave has said that he was always the “new kid” in school, which made it difficult for him to make friends. When Dave was ten years old, his family finally settled down in a small town in Ohio. It was there that Dave developed his love of comedy and began performing stand-up at local clubs.
After high school, Dave attended Kent State University where he studied communications. He then transferred to the University of Missouri where he graduated with a degree in theater arts. After college,Dave moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. He began performing at small comedy clubs and quickly developed a following. In 1992, Dave landed his first television role on the sitcom “Growing Pains.” The show was not a success and was cancelled after one season.
