What is Attack on Titan?
Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series began in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on September 9, 2009, and has been collected into 28 tankōbon volumes as of April 2019. It is set in a world where humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls; a defense against the gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans. The story follows the adventures of Eren Yeager, his foster sister Mikasa Ackermann, and their friend Armin Arlert, who join the military to fight the Titans after their home town is invaded and Eren’s mother is killed.
The series has been adapted into three part live-action films, with a fourth film currently in production. It was also adapted into two seasons of a 25-episode anime television series by Wit Studio (seasons 1–2) and Production I.G (season 3) that aired on NHK General TV from April 2013 to June 2019.
